ISBN: 0575032790
£12.00

A Life of the Countess of Oxford & Asquith. Margot Asquith was at the hub of the social and political life of England from the 1880s until after the end of the First World War. The daughter of a wealthy industrialist, she was brought up in Scotland with little formal education. As a girl of eighteen she burst upon fashionable London like a bombshell and was soon among the leaders of late Victoria and Edwardian society. In middle life her writings won her renown in another field. After several unsatisfactory love affairs, in 1894 she married the future Prime Minister H.H. Asquith, a widower with five children. Contains 16 pages of b/w photographs.
