SIR WALTER RALEGH - That Great Lucifer - Biography - By Margaret Irwin - Book Hardback

£5.00

A portrait of Sir Walter Raleigh. His personality and career have all the excitement of drama, with the pathos of a great man's fall, the tragic end on the scaffold. There is mystery too, for no one has yet found an explanation of Ralegh's part in the plot against James I for which he was condemned to death. The author of this book describes it as a 'portrait of him and some of his contemporaries', rather than a comprehensive life. She errs on the side of sympathy for him and although not a novel, it is as readable as one. Contains 4 pages of b/w illustrations.
